Acceptance of the Du`aa and faulty minds!

بسم الله والحمد لله والصلاة والسلام على رسول الله ، وبعد

Verily, every du`aa is accepted and rewarded by Allaah سبحانه وتعالى, as long as the one who is making the du`aa:

First: starts the du`aa by praising Allaah and prays upon the Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم.

Second: does not consumes that was earned unlawfully.

Third: avoids sins

Fourth but not the last: does not make a du`aa which is Haraam in itself (like asking for breaking up of family ties).

If anyone follows these simple steps, then his/her du`aa is accepted, for Allaah تعالى said:

{I respond to the invocations of the supplicant when he calls on Me} [Surah al-Baqarah (2): 186]

And He تعالى also said:

{Invoke Me, I will respond to your (invocation)} [Surah Ghaafir (40): 60]

Let us take the lesson from the incident about the honey:

Allaah تعالى says about honey:

{…is healing for mankind} [Surah al-Nahl (16): 69]

Narrated Abu Sa`eed Al Khudree رضي الله عنه: A man came to the Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم and said: “My brother has some abdominal trouble.” The Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم said to him: “Let him drink honey.” The man came for the second time and the Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم said to him: “Let him drink honey.” He came for the third time and the Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم said: “Let him drink honey.” He returned again and said: “I have done that” (in another narration it is: “I made him drink (honey) but that made him worse”). The Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم then said: “Allaah has said the truth, but your brother’s abdomen has told a lie. Let him drink (more) honey.” So he made him drink honey and he was cured. [Saheeh al-Bukhaaree (5684, 5716) and Saheeh Muslim (2217)]

Similarly, when the person feels that the du`aa is not being accepted, then know that there is a fault with the mind. For it is this fault because of which the mind refuses to accept or understand Allaah’s Hikmah (Wisdom).

So upon you is the Du`aa and upon Allaah is the response.
