Make the Dunyaa your slave!

بـسـم الله والحـمـد لله والـصلاة والـسـلام عــلى رسـول الله، وبـعـد

A thing to contemplate on: The word “Earth” and “World” have been mentioned numerous times in the Qur'aan. But never once has Allaah praised it.

Narrated Abu Hurairah رضي الله عنه: The Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم said: “This world is cursed and so are all the things in it, except the remembrance of Allaah and that, which He (Allaah) likes, and the scholars and the students.” [Tirmidhee (2322), Ibn Maajah (4112) and graded as “Hasan” by Shaikh al-Albaanee in al-Saheehah (2797)]

Narrated Abu Hurairah رضي الله عنه: that the Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم said: “Allaah تعالى says: O son of Adam, devote yourself to my worship. I will brim your breast with freedom from want and plug up your poverty. If you do not do this, I will fill your breast with (worldly) pursuits and will not obstruct poverty.”” [Musnad of Imaam Ahmad, Tirmidhee (2466), Ibn Maajah (4107). and graded as “Hasan” by Shaikh al-Albaanee in al-Saheehah (1359). The wordings are of Ibn Maajah]

Anas ibn Maalik رضي الله عنه reported that the Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم said: “If anyone's intention is to seek the Hereafter Allaah will place his sufficiency in his heart and order (take care of) his affairs and the world will come to him submissively; but if anyone's intention is to seek worldly good Allaah will place poverty before him and disorder his affairs, and only so much of it as has been decreed for him will come to him.” [Tirmidhee (2473) and graded as “Hasan” by Shaikh al-Albaanee in al-Saheehah (949)]

Zaid bin Thaabit رضي الله عنه said that the Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم said: “Whoever is focused only on this world, Allaah will confound his affairs and make him fear poverty constantly, and he will not get anything of this world except what has been decreed for him. Whoever is focused on the Hereafter, Allaah will settle his affairs for him and make him feel content with his lot and his provision and the worldly gains will undoubtedly come to him.” [Sunan Ibn Maajah (4105) and graded as “Saheeh” by Shaikh al-Albaanee]

Narrated Mustawrid رضي الله عنه: Allaah’s Apostle صلى الله عليه وسلم said: “By Allaah, this world (is so insignificant in comparison) to the Hereafter that if one of you should dip his finger in the ocean (and pull it out) and then he should see how much water sticks to it.” [Saheeh Muslim]

`Alee Ibn Abee Taalib رضي الله عنه said: “The world is moving away from us, and the Hereafter is coming closer towards us and each one of them has sons. So, be from the sons of the Hereafter, and do not be from the sons of the world. For today (is the time) for work and no Judgment; but tomorrow is (only) Judgment and no work.” [Saheeh Al-Bukhaaree, Chapter: Hoping too much (for longer life)]

  1. You know the narrations from Anas ibn Maalik and Zaid bin Thaabit, what do the commentaries in Tuhfat Al-Ahwadhi and Al-Sindi's Sharh of Ibn Maajah say about them?
