Tafseer: The Parable of Evil Deeds Nullifying Good Deeds

{Would any of you wish to have a garden with date palms and vines, with rivers flowing underneath, and all kinds of fruits for him therein, while he is stricken with old age, and his children are weak (not able to look after themselves), then it is struck with a whirlwind with fire therein, so that it is burnt. Thus does Allaah make clear His Ayat to you that you may give thought.} [Surah al-Baqarah (2): 266]

Tafseer: The reason why provision is not increased

{And if Allaah were to enlarge the provision for His slaves, they would surely rebel in the earth, but He sends down by measure as He wills. Verily, He is, in respect of His slaves, Well-Acquainted, All-Seer (of things that benefit them). And He it is Who sends down the rain after they have despaired, and spreads His Mercy. And He is the Walee (Helper, Supporter, Protector, Lord), the Worthy of all praise.} [Surah al-Shooraa (42): 27-28]]

Ahaadeeth on Etiquettes - Part 8

Based on the work of the noble Shaikh al-Albaanee رحمه الله“Silsilatu al-Ahaadeeth al-Saheehah”

53) Ibn `Umar رضي الله عنهما said: There was a time when no one was more entitled to a person’s money than his Muslim brother. Now people love their dirham and dinar more than their Muslim brother. I heard the Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم say: “How many a neighbor will be brought together with his neighbor on the Day of Rising! He will say: “Lord, this man closed his door to me and refused to show me common kindness!””

(and in another narration, “it is a treasure from the treasures of Paradise.”)

Make the Dunyaa your slave!

A thing to contemplate on: The word “Earth” and “World” have been mentioned numerous times in the Qur'aan. But never once has Allaah praised it.

Narrated Abu Hurairah رضي الله عنه: The Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم said: “This world is cursed and so are all the things in it, except the remembrance of Allaah and that, which He (Allaah) likes, and the scholars and the students.” [Tirmidhee (2322), Ibn Maajah (4112) and graded as “Hasan” by Shaikh al-Albaanee in al-Saheehah (2797)]

Tafseer: {And say not of those who are killed in the way of Allaah, “They are dead.”}

What is meant by Allaah's statement:

وَلاَ تَقُولُواْ لِمَن يُقْتَلُ فِى سَبيلِ اللَّهِ أَمْوَاتٌ بَلْ أَحْيَاءٌ

{And say not of those who are killed in the way of Allaah, “They are dead.” Nay, they are living...} [Surah al-Baqarah (2): 154]

Falsehood Of The Statement: Verily Allaah is Everywhere

Importance of seeking Allaah's forgiveness for the Believers

Narrated `Ubaadah bin al-Saamit رضي الله عنه: I heard the Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم saying: “Whoever seeks Allaah’s forgiveness for the Believing men and Believing women, Allaah will write for him on behalf of every Believer, man and woman, a good deed.”

[Tabaraanee (2155) and graded as “Hasan” (good) by Shaikh al-Albaanee in Saheeh al-Jami` (6026)]

Narrated Abu al-Dardaa’ رضي الله عنه:  Allaah’s Messenger صلى الله عليه وسلم used to say: “The supplication of a Muslim for his brother at his back (in his absence) is responded so long as he makes a supplication for blessings for his brother and the commissioned Angel says: Ameen, and says: May it be for you too!”

Removing The Doubts: Did Abu Bakr رضي الله عنه do injustice to the family of the Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم?

Hadeeth #1:

Narrated `Aaishah (mother of the believers) رضي الله عنها: “After the death of Allaah’s Apostle صلى الله عليه وسلم, Faatimah عليها السلام, the daughter of Allaah’s Apostle, asked Abu Bakr Al-Siddeeq رضي الله عنه to give her her share of inheritance from what Allaah’s Apostle had left of the Fai (i.e. booty gained without fighting) which Allaah had given him. Abu Bakr said to her: “Allaah’s Apostle صلى الله عليه وسلم said: ‘Our property will not be inherited, whatever we (i.e. prophets) leave is sadaqah (to be used for charity)’”. Faatimah عليها السلام, the daughter of Allaah’s Apostle got angry and stopped speaking to Abu Bakr, and continued assuming that attitude till she died. Faatimah عليها السلام remained alive for six months after the death of Allaah’s Apostle صلى الله عليه وسلم. She used to ask Abu Bakr for her share from the property of Allaah’s Apostle which he left at Khaibar, and Fadak, and his property at Madeenah (devoted for charity). Abu Bakr refused to give her that property and said: “I will not leave anything Allaah’s Apostle used to do, because I am afraid that if I left something from the Prophet’s tradition, then I would go astray.” (Later on) `Umar gave the Prophet's property (of sadaqa) at Madeenah to `Alee and `Abbaas, but he withheld the properties of Khaibar and Fadak in his custody and said: “These two properties are the sadaqah which Allaah’s Apostle صلى الله عليه وسلم used to use for his expenditures and urgent needs. Now their management is to be entrusted to the ruler.” (Al-Zuhree (d. 52H) said: “They have been managed in this way till today.”) [Saheeh al-Bukhaaree (3091) and Saheeh Muslim (3311)]

Imaam al-Bukhaaree: How to achieve unity?

Imaam al-Bukhaaree رحمه الله said:

I met more than a thousand men amongst the people of knowledge from the people of al-Hijaaz, al-Makkah, al-Madinah, al-Koofah, al-Basrah, Waasit, Baghdaad, Shaam and Misr... and I never saw a single one of them differ with respect to the following matters...

The Sunnah is to say

The Sunnah is to say (Jazak Allaahu khair). But we find people saying “Jazak Allaah” only or Jazaks or JAK or JZK– which doesn’t mean anything. So, stick to the Sunnah and avoid falling short of it.

Usaamah bin Zaid رضي الله عنه said: The Messenger of Allaah صلى الله عليه وسلم said:

من صنع إليه معروف ، فقال لفاعله : جزاك الله خيرا ، فقد أبلغ في الثناء

“Whoever has a favor done for him and says Jazaak Allaahu khayran (Allaah reward you with good) has done his utmost to thank him.”

[Narrated by al-Tirmidhee (2035) and graded as “Saheeh” by Shaikh al-Albaanee in Saheeh al-Tirmidhee]

Hadeeth: Tawakkul

It is imperative that a person realizes that Tawakkul does not mean leaving the actions that are necessary to achieve one’s goal. On the contrary, Tawakkul necessitates that a person strives with all efforts & in all permissible ways to achieve what is desired, all the while realizing that such efforts will not produce the desired results unless Allaah has already Willed it.

Anas bin Maalik said رضي الله عنه: “A man said: ‘O Messenger of Allaah, should I tie it (the camel) and make tawakkul, or let it go free and make tawakkul?' He صلى الله عليه وسلم said: “Tie it and make tawakkul.” [At-Tirmidhee (2517) and graded as “Hasan” (good) by Shaikh al-Albaanee]
